Whew, it feels like we just barely made it through the Christmas holiday season, but now Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! I made these ninja printable Valentine’s Day cards at the request of my seven-year-old son who asked if I would design “some valentines for boys – with no glittery hearts or love and all that girly stuff!” After reminding him that valentines cards are for Valentine’s Day and all, he finally relented and let me add a few hearts to the cards…as long as they weren’t glittery!
Keep in mind that there are already many handmade greetings cards available. To be really successful, you need to offer something a little different. In many areas, the market is swamped with handmade cards. An example of a niche is a "green" handmade card business where all products used are recycled, sustainably sourced, or some portion of proceeds benefit ecology projects around the world. When you are thinking about a niche, a great place to start is to think about the things that inspire you or make you smile.

[Lyrics] Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit, you're lookin' better than a barbecued brisket. You're the cream of the crop and the salt of the earth so we're all celebratin' the day of your birth. You can charm the dew off the honeysuckle when folks are feelin' blue, you can make 'em chuckle. We'll be fancy prancin' until the chickens roost, until the cows are home and all the varmints have vamoosed. Now we feel plum tuckered from having so much fun, So you can stick a fork in us - it's lookin' like we're done. [Message] Happy Birthday

In February 2008, trouble at eBay, including a strike by some dissatisfied sellers, brought speculation that Etsy could be an increasing competitor.[55] At the same time, however, some Etsy sellers expressed discontentment with how Etsy was handling complaints about stores.[56] At the time, a comparison of the two websites included complaints that on Etsy, items are difficult to find, the interface "feels slow", and the buying and selling process is United States-centric.[57] Other reviewers enjoyed using Etsy's specialized search options,[58][59] including the "Shop Local" tool.[60]

As of March, 2016, Etsy's top three competitors according to Hoovers Online are Amazon Handmade, Craigslist, and eBay.[91] Etsy has been compared to "a crafty cross between Amazon and eBay",[52] and to "your grandma's basement".[92] Etsy also has a number of direct competitors. DaWanda [de], based in Germany, closed in August 2018, ezebee.com, based in Switzerland, is a global competitor, but also caters to freelancers and professionals[93] Bonanza (formerly Bonanzle and 1000 Markets[94]) is based in the United States and focuses on clothing and fashion, Zibbet and Made It which are based in Australia, iCraft is based in Canada,[95] Artfire is based in the United States,[96] and Hello Pretty is an online craft marketplace targeted at South Africans.[97] Tindie is based in Portland, Oregon, and focuses on technology and electronics.[98] ArtYah is based in California, United States undergoing speedy growth and has worldwide sellers and consumers of handmade items, vintage and some craft supplies.[99]
You wouldn’t get everyone in your life the same birthday present, so don’t settle for anything less than the perfect happy birthday card for your honoree. Start with a card featuring cake, macarons, or balloons in vivid colors and patterns that you’d never find at the party supply store. Cards stamped in silver, rose gold, and gold foil make every birthday a milestone (we won’t guess which one). There are even new rainbow and holographic foil choices for the recipient who lives in the future, but can’t resist a wee bit of sparkle. For something truly unique to the two of you, our photo birthday cards let you use a snapshot as the backdrop to your fond wishes—a lovely memento of the previous year, and the many more to come. It’s easy to add photos, crop and filter them, and accentuate your delivery with an envelope liner or designed online backdrop. If you’re a label-conscious gift-giver, pick out a card from design luminaries and master stationers like kate spade new york and Mr. Boddington’s Studio. There’s something for pretty, witty, or just plain silly birthday boys and girls, at every level of taste and rarefaction. (And laughs. Don’t forget laughs.) We’ll make it easier to deliver, too. Once you’ve chosen just the right card for your superannuated friend, use our online design tool to customize the wording and wrap up any lingering details with a figurative bow.
In September 2015, Etsy made further changes to its manufacturing policy with the launch of Etsy Manufacturing, a marketplace allowing sellers to connect with outside manufacturers to fabricate their products. Manufacturers must be reviewed and approved by Etsy to ensure they adhere to certain criteria, although Etsy will not conduct visits or in-person inspections. Sellers must apply and be approved to work with any partners listed on Etsy Manufacturing and are required to disclose their use of outside manufacturers on their pages.[108]

Thank you so much for this resource! I used it to download a bunch of great images that we have put on custom olive oil labels and big canvas shopping bags that have ironed on images. Each person/family will get a bottle and bag that coordinate, but no two are alike. We did the olive oil through The Olive Oil Source. This is what we are giving this year as our homemade gift! (We will add some spiced nuts too because our family would kill us if we skipped them.) I just cannot get over how awesome the feed is, but I do have one piece of advice (learned the hard way): Leave it open in a tab as you go through and download, so that you can pick up where you left off. I stopped after about 75 pages, but when I wanted to venture back I had to leap frog about 8 pages at a time.

Etsy is an e-commerce website (etsy.com) focused on handmade or vintage items and supplies, as well as unique factory-manufactured items. These items fall under a wide range of categories, including art, photography, clothing, jewelry, food, bath and beauty, quilts, knick-knacks, and toys. Many sellers also sell craft supplies such as beads, wire, and jewelry-making tools. All vintage items must be at least 20 years old.[2] The site follows in the tradition of open craft fairs, giving sellers personal storefronts where they list their goods for a fee of US$0.20 per item.[3]

Identifying your target market is key. Your target market is the group of people who will buy your cards. Getting the word out about your product is your marketing plan. Knowing your target market will help you define your prices and determine where to market your cards. For example, if you sell cards which will appeal to hipsters, your target market is going to be very different than if you are selling cards for a kid's birthday.
The programs we tested range in price from $10 to $50. Our favorite greeting card software for Mac landed near the bottom of that price range at $13 and has the best selection of templates and graphics. Some of the $40 programs have better sharing options and editing tools, but if you don’t need thousands of templates, we suggest checking out the low-cost software we tested.
Before starting a handmade card business that uses artwork from another designer, be it in a stamp form or ready printed, check whether this artwork comes with a commercial use license or if you have to pay for the licensed image (once or every time it's used)? If you do have to pay for the image, make sure that cost gets factored into your pricing formula as you determine the per-unit cost of your cards.

Angie, where have you been all my (design) life?! Thank you so so much for doing all of this work and for sharing it with us. Wow. Absolutely incredible collection. Tell me, please, if I want to use a printout of something here as a background image in a mixed media piece, what is the cost? (I am working on a painting series, and one will be donated to an auction for charity; the others may be placed for sale at some point.) Thank you again!

There is a plethora of photo editing tools that come with Mac computers, but it’s easier creating greeting cards when tools are in the same program. It has more than 165,000 royalty free images and 4,800+ templates to help you build a customized card for any occasion. All the editing tools are on the main page, which looks a bit cluttered. You hover the mouse over each tool for its name if you are having a hard time deciphering the images. You can print and export your finalized projects, but PrintMaster Platinum doesn’t have a sharing feature for popular social media platforms.

A little bit about this print. The Christmas Carol is my husband’s favorite Christmas movie/book of all time. Every year around Christmas we are forced asked to watch every version of the movie. Some of my kids like this tradition, others do not (I fall into this category). But it’s becoming a tradition and when I saw this book in the digital library I had to use it.
“As the world becomes increasingly eco-conscious, couples are choosing stylish and sustainable solutions for their weddings,” says Dayna. “Incorporating biodegradable floral confetti, vintage decor and even reusable straws are just a few ways to bring earth-friendly values into your big day.” And going green doesn’t have to mean skimping on personalized details. Case in point: this super customizable (and thoroughly charming) cake topper made from recycled cardstock.
