Etsy is an e-commerce website (etsy.com) focused on handmade or vintage items and supplies, as well as unique factory-manufactured items. Identifying your target market is key. Your target market is the group of people who will buy your cards. Getting the word out about your product is your marketing plan. Knowing your target market will help you define your prices and determine where to market your cards. For example, if you sell cards which will appeal to hipsters, your target market is going to be very different than if you are selling cards for a kid's birthday.
There are countless DIY projects out there involving maps and those are simply in addition to just displaying them! I am a sucker for maps. The programs we tested range in price from $10 to $50. Our favorite greeting card software for Mac landed near the bottom of that price range at $13 and has the best selection of templates and graphics. Some of the $40 programs have better sharing options and editing tools, but if you don’t need thousands of templates, we suggest checking out the low-cost software we tested.
There are also plenty of photo hosting sites you can use to store your image files online, including Google Photos, Dropbox, SmugMug and Photobucket. Most of these sites offer basic free storage for a small quantity of files, and they make it easy to label and organize your images as you see fit. Different sites have different features, but most offer premium paid services that may better suit your needs.
What sets you apart from all the other card making businesses out there? How will you stand out? If you take a look at the successful handmade card sellers on websites such as Etsy, you will see that very often they sell into a tightly defined niche. This is useful in a crowded market. If you are worried about competing in a very general market, take a look and see if there is a niche you can break into. This can be what makes you unique, and set you up as one of the only businesses catering to that segment.

On October 1, 2013, Dickerson held an online Town Hall Meeting to announce that Etsy would now permit factory-made goods and drop shipping, provided the seller either designed or hired designers of the items, disclosed to Etsy their factory, disclosed that they used factories and took "ownership" of the process. In that meeting and afterward, Etsy claimed the meaning of the word "handmade" should be redefined to encompass factory made.[85]

There’s just something about a paper greeting card that never loses its charm for some of us. We like to hold the greeting in our hands, feel the crisp paper, run our fingers over the words and pictures as if we were trying to absorb the essence of the message. Most of all we like to see the handwritten notes and the signatures of our loved ones. While ecards may be viewed instantly and forgotten over time, printed cards can be saved, cherished and shared for years. Although ecards have replaced printed cards in many instances as the more convenient, inexpensive and quick mode of wishing one another, printed cards still retain that special quality that electronic messages cannot convey effectively.
